The Creation

Long ago, before the Universe was born God was there lonely in pitch, black darkness. Nothing existed, no sound, no light, no time, no solid, no liquid, no gas, just God. God made Earth (Genesis 1:1), but Earth was barren and cold waters churned endlessly on its surface (Genesis 1:2).

“Let there be light,” God said, then the light appeared, dim grey at first, then faint red, bright white and then soft and pleasant (Genesis 1:3). When God saw the beautiful light God admired it, God then separated the light from the darkness (Genesis 1:4). God called the light Day, when the light left it became dark, God called the darkness Night. This was the first day of creation (Genesis 1:5).

On the second day of creation, God decided to create the sky. “Let there be a sky inside the waters and let it divide the waters,” God said (Genesis 1:6). Soon a sky formed underwater. Then the waters above the sky swirled until it formed a sphere larger than Earth around the planet (Genesis 1:7). The sky merged with it creating a bright, vast and blue dome around the planet, so God called it the Sky (Genesis 1:8). Not only had God created the sky, God had also created an atmosphere of water.

There was water alright, but there was no land. “Let all the waters be gathered together and let dry land appear,” God said, all the water started flowing together at once creating a gigantic pool of water. (Genesis 1:9). While this happened mountains, hills, plains, valleys appeared. Some hollow holes were filled with water and became rivers, the rivers created lakes. And God called the dry land, Earth and the waters, Oceans (Genesis 1:10).

Now we had oceans and rivers, but there were no plants, nothing to decorate the oceans with. “Let grass, plants, flowers and trees grow,” God said (Genesis 1:11). Immediately, grass shot up from the soil, transforming the planet from brown to vivid green. Then colourful flowers and short plants grew out next, finally trees rose from the ground, their branches stretching for the sky (Genesis 1:12). This was the third day of creation (Genesis 1:13).

Now let’s put aside botanic features. The sky was perfect, there was only one problem. During day there was no sun and during night there was no moon. The night sky was a starless sky. So God said, “Let there be lights in the sky to divide day and night, seasons, days and years.” (Genesis 1:14). And let them brighten Earth (Genesis 1:15). So God created two great lights, the greater light ruled day and the smaller light ruled night, also created stars to decorate the dark night sky (Genesis 1:16). The greater light was called the Sun and the smaller light was called the Moon. God then placed these lights in the sky (Genesis 1:17). The stars arranged themselves in space, God created planets as well. So the Sun, Moon and stars ruled over day and night and gave Earth life, God admired it (Genesis 1:18). This was the fourth day of creation (Genesis 1:19).

Now we had everything except for animals. So God said, “Let the waters of the sea create sea animals and birds richly.” (Genesis 1:20) Sure enough the waters of the sea formed sea animals and birds. The birds flew towards land and flightless ones (like penguins, emus and ostriches) were formed on land (Genesis 1:21). And God blessed them saying, “Have offspring and multiply and fill the seas and skies.” (Genesis 1:22). This was the fifth day of creation (Genesis 1:23).

On the sixth day of creation, God said, “Let the soil create land animals,” (Genesis 1:24). Heaps of sand started swelling and animals of all kind burst out from each of them. They spread out over the planet and ate grass happily.

“Let me create man and let him rule the sea animals, birds, land animals and Earth,” God said (Genesis 1:26). And God created a man in his own image (Genesis 1:27). And God blessed him saying, “Have offspring, multiply, fill the earth, rule it and rule all animals (Genesis 1:28). “I have given you every herb and fruit tree for you to eat from,” God said (Genesis 1:29). ”And I have given all land animals and birds plants to feed on,” God said (Genesis 1:30). And God saw everything God had created an admired it, this was the sixth day (Genesis 1:31).

So the Universe was created and everything (Genesis 2:1). On the seventh day, God rested from all his work (Genesis 2:2) and made it a special day of rest (Genesis 2:3).
